An interactive online gas map and reminder service shows gas consumers the risks lurking in their areas, and why they should set a reminder to have their appliances checked.
Gas Safe Register’s interactive gas map tool identifies the most dangerous postcodes in the country. The map, staygassafe.co.uk, reveals how many unsafe gas appliances have been found lurking in an area, how many unregistered gas fitters have preyed on the public, and how many gas incidents and emergencies have happened, all by entering a postcode.
The first time gas data has been compared across postcodes; the map pinpoints over 120,000 unsafe gas incidents attended by the national gas emergency networks in the last three years. Alarmingly, the project has revealed that one in six homes – the equivalent of 4.28 million households – had an unsafe gas appliance.
With one in three gas consumers in Great Britain – around 7.69 million households – admitting they have never had their gas appliances checked or maintained, despite eight in 10 people (82%) recognising they should do so, Gas Safe Register wants to encourage consumers to never forget to book an annual gas safety check again by signing up to our free reminder service at staygassafe.co.uk/reminder.
Gas safety is a life or death matter and something that shouldn’t be ignored. Help keep you and your family Gas Safe by setting a reminder for yourself today at staygassafe.co.uk/reminder.”
