In October 2012 our sister company, the Guild of Letting & Management launched their Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). The Guild provides BTEC qualifications to learners working in as letting agents & property managers or working in Housing Associations, corporates, and also to private landlords.
The ideal option for delivery of the BTEC qualifications would be the face-to-face option, however, this may not always be possible, so the VLE is an effective alternative which not only provides the learner with all the materials and resources they require, but also gives the learner the opportunity to belong to a community.
Through careful course design, the Guild has dveloped a vocational qualification at levels 2, 3 and 4 which provide the learner with an opportunity to reinforce their existing knowledge and also learn about topics which they may not come across on a daily basis. The objective of the BTEC qualifications is to apply the subjects covered in the syllabus to scenarios which the learners come across in the work place.
With a the new Learner Gateway which was launched today, learners will now have access to a space which has a “community” feel. They have access to a vast array of up-to-date industry specific information, an on-line library of resources, which include links to websites, core texts, case law, publications, legislation and support material.
The most significant addition to the Learner Gateway is the direct links to social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest), latest news and the opporuntiy to be involved in discussion.
As the VLE develops, so will the community. The flexibility on both delivery of materials and support for the learners makes the VLE particularly suitable for adult professional learners – adult learners who want to dip in and out of learning whenever and wherever is convenient for them.
